so the last time i posted i was running up to six miles. a few days later i ran seven. two days ago i ran eight. eight miles with my best time. i averaged 10:01 minute miles! i know it's still slow compared to many people, but a few weeks ago when i first decided to run, i ran two miles in 25 minutes (and thought i was gun die!). that's 12.5 minute miles.
i'm excited to be improving my time and distance. i'm excited that i can run eight miles without stopping to walk. it's just so foreign to me. this running. this euphoria. i kinda feel high. i couldn't sleep saturday night. i couldn't sleep last night. i just get so excited thinking about the possibilities of just running. and not stopping.
it feels good to be capable.
i'm not good at many things (not that i'm good at running) or capable of many things, but to know that i can go out and run eight miles kinda makes me proud of me. it feels good to be proud of myself for something.
when i first wrote my health goals out for the year i hadn't anticipated a full marathon. partly because i didn't think i could, and partly because i just didn't think i'd want to. that it wasn't a big deal for me. well, now it's a big deal. now i want to. real bad. so, October's goal of a half marathon has now been changed to a goal of a full marathon.
you can't grow while in your comfort zone. these goals are big for me. they push me right on outta my comfort zone. especially to write them out loud on my blog. but being outta my comfort zone will be good.
it's time i stop being such a chicken with my life.
